Most of us long for more in our spiritual lives. More change, more excitement. We long for the moments that give us goosebumps and that we’ll look back on and tell people about for years to come. We assume these dramatic moments must come on the heels of a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime experience. While God certainly can do these things in our lives, most of our lives are filled with the boring, daily stuff like washing the dishes, taking the trash out, driving to work, and making dinner. The question shouldn’t be how to get rid of these ordinary things; it should be how to open our eyes to the extraordinary presence of God in the midst of our very ordinary lives.

As Christians, we have an opportunity to taste and see that the Lord is good through the bread and the wine. That’s not all though. Because every moment, every minute, every square inch of our lives is His. We can taste and see that the Lord is good through peanut butter and jelly — the ordinary stuff of life.
