BEN

In my first few months at TLC, I heard the idea of being “owners, not renters” several times. I figured I would give it a shot and sign up to serve!

After looking around at all the serve teams, I saw the Tech Team. I know my fair share about tech, building my own computer and doing things like that so I figured tech would be a good fit. I was a bit hesitant because I hadn’t worked with a lot of the programs that they use or the equipment that they use.

Since then, wow things have changed! I can't speak for every team, but I assume it would be similar, but man the Tech Team is great! We have a great community in the tech booth. Everyone there is super cool, I have definitely made some friends and I have a couple of them really pushing me in my walk with Christ, making sure that I am growing and I am learning to be a bit comfortable with being uncomfortable. I definitely feel more connected to TLC as there is always something going on behind the scenes and it allows me to understand a little bit more about how the church is operating.

If you’re considering serving, I’d say to just go for it! It is okay if you don't know exactly what you are doing. You don't need to have any prior experience (for any of the teams). For tech, yu get trained before you are doing anything solo. God doesn't want people to do it perfectly, he wants people to do it with a willing heart. If you have a willing heart that is all you need! The rest will come with training and experience.
