CHELSEA

When we started attending TLC, I knew I wanted to begin serving right away. My parents were always serving in some capacity at my church growing up, and they encouraged me to do the same. I originally served in the kids ministry, and I encouraged my husband, Ben (who was just my boyfriend at the time) to find a place to serve. He was hesitant and wasn't sure where he would fit, and then Eric Joldersma grabbed him and told him to sign up for Hospitality, so he did!

At this time I was also beginning my teaching career, and felt that God was calling me to serve in another capacity at church outside of working with kids. I saw how much Ben enjoyed being on his Hospitality team and I decided to join him. I was hesitant at first, as talking to new people can be really difficult for me (an introvert) but I found that when you are doing it for the Lord, those fears don't seem to matter. While starting conversations can feel awkward still sometimes, I know that what I'm doing is making a difference for the people walking into the doors of our church and for the kingdom as a whole.

Since I joined the Hospitality team, I feel like I've made a huge investment in making this church a home for myself and for others. I've built up a community around me and made some great friends on my team, who I seek out even on Sundays when we aren't serving.

If you are considering serving, go for it! Hospitality is a great place to jump in. Our team will welcome you with open arms, and you will be making a difference in the kingdom. You can be a part of helping others come into TLC and feel welcomed and at home.
